Fonda memories

Not long ago Jane Fonda visited New Zealand for a special one night appearance where she was interviewed about her life on stage in front of a full house. I was there. Way up in the back row applauding wildly. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. At 71, I’m a bit embarrassed to confess that I am a “fan”. But I am.

Divisiveness as well as diversity

Between 2005 and 2007, a total of 119,600 people migrated to NZ from overseas. 41,300 of those were New Zealand born citizens returning home. The remaining 78,300 were born overseas.

The vast majority of migrants have made Auckland their home in a very short time, changing the demographics of the population dramatically.

take it easy

Ever feel like there’s just not enough minutes in the day?  Who hasn’t?  It seems that busyness has become the new norm. For some even a badge of honour.

 “Just not enough minutes in the day!” –  declared with a proud smile, a shrug of the shoulders and shake of the head.  “I’ve just been so busy!”  The words slip off the tongue as easily as a mindless “How are you?” It’s expected.
